BlueWave Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
Introduction
In this episode of Boating Broadcast, we learn about BlueWave boat cleaning products from Daniel Simmons, president and owner. But first, we tackle headlines from around the marine industry.
Aviara AV40 Boat Test
First up, BoatTEST.com's Captain Steve takes the Aviara AV40 out for a spin. The Aviara brand draws on MasterCraft’s 50 years of boat-building to create the elevated dayboat experience with upscale finish work, quality build, and elevated handling. The AV40 is designed to seamlessly integrate functionality with innovative style and bring upscale features to the dayboat market. The goal is to create a functional dayboat that could also expand the boating experience into the evenings, sleeping four comfortably. BoatTEST goes on to independently verify key factors including performance and handling reports with miles per gallon at varying speeds, showing optimal range, acceleration times and conditions, engine options (Sterndrive or Outboard power), and other major features like the submersible platform and Seakeeper Gyro option.
Aquila Turns 10!
Next, Soundings Trade Only congratulates Aquila Power Catamarans for celebrating their 10-year anniversary! The company was founded through a partnership involving MarineMax Executive Chairman of the Board, Bill McGill, multihull pioneer Lex Raas, and Sino Eagle Group. They've become the number one power catamaran in sales with hundreds of satisfied customers worldwide and they're among the top 10 in all yachts sold from 40 to 60 feet.
New Product From Mercury Marine
Then, Boating Industry Online covers the recent introduction of two new FourStroke outboard platforms by Mercury Marine. The next generation of 25- and 30-hp FourStroke outboards feature a 3-cylinder, 500cc powerhead with electronic fuel injection. For the first time, electric-start models in 25 and 30 hp come standard with Mercury SmartCraft digital technologies, allowing boaters to connect to the most advanced digital gauges in the industry and mobile devices through VesselView Mobile. Chris Drees, Mercury Marine president comments, “Mercury’s new platforms bring new capabilities and a better consumer experience to a wide variety of recreational and commercial boats. In addition to being lighter, faster, and quieter, the new engines in this lineup deliver what boaters have asked for with exciting new options like digital technologies and an ergonomically positioned tiller handle.”
Jeff Bezos Versus a Bridge
Finally, it's Amazon's Jeff Bezos versus a bridge (spectacularly covered by Peter Janssen at Cruising Odyssey.) Earlier this year, the superyacht builder Oceanco suggested dismantling the Koningshaven Bridge so that Jeff Bezos’ new yacht, the largest sailboat in the world, can pass through on its way to the sea. Oceanco said it would pay for all the costs of dismantling and restoring the bridge, which would take two days or so. The outcry was immediate. A Facebook page was created urging residents to throw eggs at the yacht as it passed through. Although the bridge is no longer in use, it remains an icon for the city. The bridge was opened in 1927 as the first lift bridge in the Netherlands. Known as “De Hef” (The Lift), it was destroyed by the Germans in 1940 during the Second World War, but it was later repaired. Rotterdam has the busiest port in Europe, and it’s the main hub for shipbuilding. After further consideration, Oceanco and Bezos are back to the drawing board for new ideas to transport Bezos' vessel out to sea.
